PS3 Died!!

Post by un1eash »

I havent used my PS3 in months and the other night after an update to 3.15 i decided to play a few games.

After an hour or so i kept getting game crashes and having to switch of the console at the mains. Thought nothing of it untill it happened again the second night and now my PS3 wont read any disks at all. The laser doesnt light up, it doesnt spin, nothing.

Its only 2 years old and i hardly use it. I'm reluctant to pay £60-100 to try and fix it by replacing the laser as it could just die again so i now have a very big door stop and will be buying a new slim PS3 with an extended warranty.

Just stick to the 360, at least they're cheap/free to fix :thumleft:

Trade it in at GAME.

Take it in 15 mins before store closing on a friday night and they won't even turn it on, they'll be more intersted in getting you done and dusted so they can lock up. Just make sure the box and all the gubbins are nice and neat.

About £120.

My mates would over heat after about 5 mins, he traded his in for a wii as the new ps3 wasn't out yet. would of looked a bit sus if he'd have asked for a new ps3. but as the slim is out, perfectly feasable.

the guys on the counter dont give a sh anyway.

Was it a 4-port USB (60GB) one or 2-port. I might be interested in a 4-port model for fixing thereof...
