[Mk2] [Turbo] Converting 3S-G engine to Inline RWD

Post by thepest »

Anyone know what toyota gearbox would bolt up to the 3S-G block? I'm thinking of an FR project. Perhaps the T50 gearbox?

Lexus 6 speed. I was gonna build a kit car using the 3sgte engine.

240 hp in a kit car would be far to much though. I got a good price on the gearbox, prop, diff, hubs, the lot.

Some guy in sheffield if i recall correctly.

I remember asking Paul Woods of TwoBrutal. He told me all the exact bits i would need ie which clutch/friction plate and so on. I was impressed how he knew straight away.

It's the dual VVT-i gen 4 3SGE. I posted up a youtube link of the HKS demo drift 'tezza a little while back somewhere on here though -that was running a black top with forced induction.

I have seen him on this fourm plenty of times.

He has his own forum, twobrutal.com.

240 hp in a kit would be hard to drive though dude. everytime you squeeze the throttle you'll probably spin the wheels. 240 is stock aswell, with the intake, decat, exhaust and a mbc you'd have 300hp in car weighing about the same as a box of frosties. If you could get the power down i bet 0 - 60 would be better side of 3 secs.

However i haven't seen a 3sgte kit car yet.

If i was building a kit i'd use the mk1 engine. Nice and light and revvy, easy to mate to type 9 box. nice and cheap. GSXR throttle bodies.

Even go for the supercharger.

replica 3 SGTE

Post by Mike N »

Hi Dazz,

Check out the following......

www.rs200.org
look in the replica's section. These pics were at a recent Brands Hatch trackday.

www.banham200.co.uk
Look in the gallery section under "Mike's 200's" These pics show some of the build history.

For those that recognise what the car is, and cars from that era, I am now in the planning stages of building a Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 mid engined replica.

My replica was featured in Oct's Total Kit Car (TKC) magazine, but a popular Jap tuning magazine declined the offer!

I would post some pic's on here, but I am not that computerish!

Mike.

Have you 4wd or is it just rear? Very nice kit.

Which gearbox did you use?

I still haven't seen a lotus 7 style kit car with a 3sgte engine but i haven't looked to hard.

kit car

Basically its an MR2 Turbo platform with a new fiberglass body.

All of the old metal body is removed and a new tubular frame and roll cage gets added.

The car still retains all of the MR2 's floorplan, suspension etc, all of the creature comforts and its original mid engined trans box rwd layout.

Because the end result is much lighter, around 950kg, the car really shifts.

thepest, the Toyota corolla CE70 (diesel) 5spd gearbox bolts up on the 3sge, not shure of starter configuration. maybe you have to make something custom.
