rear Brakes

just got rear disks and pands on my MK2 rev2 1992 plate.

every thing looks well made and easy to change. both rear calipers have been recon at soem time.

just one thing stopping me chaning the disks!! wft is th size of that bolt on the lower caliper frame. its neither 10 or 11mm . but somthign in between..

some oen give me a clue wher ei can get this unsual size from

Not sure exactly which bolt you mean.
If you mean the one on the caliper, then I think it's 12 or 14mm.

If you mean the one on the caliper carrier, then I'm sure (from memory) it's 17mm.

You probably mean another bolt as the ones I mention aren't 10-11mm.
Also, no bolts I've come across are anywhere inbetween.

Just changed my fronts on Monday. The two bolts for the caliper are 14mm and the two for the carrier are 17mm. I would recommend that you use a socket set that has hexagon sockets rather than the other type that have lots of smaller grooves as these can easily cause the nuts to be rounded off.

bolt im trying to take off is the lower bolt on the rear caliper from what i can see ones removed the caliper will lft up to remove the pads then to boldsbehind to remove the frame

It's 14mm then.

looks like the bolt may have been changed at some point.. deffo to small for a 14mm, i best check the other side to compare.

Just make sure you've not mistaken it for the bolt holding the brake hose on, think that ones around 10mm :)

the one you are reffering to is a 12 on mine
