NORTH EAST Power Shootout / Rolling Road Day

Post by gtech »

Hi Everyone,

Tony and I are setting up a rolling road day / Shootout at "PD TUNING" (Boldon) - We were up there the other week and they have a superb "Dyno Dynamics" setup, has all the toys incl WiFi hook up to Dyno Dynamics to ensure that no cheating goes on with the figures, their figures came out more or less the same as previous rolling road events we held at Macdonald Racing.

They intend to run a Shootout, which covers you for up to 6 runs, cost for that depends on the numbers running, but will be either £30 or £35. Full printout of the run(s) will be supplied, to include:
Torque
HP
Weather & Atmospheric Cond
and some other minor information

for an additional £5 per car AFR and BOOST Graphs are available.
Interestingly enough, they are happy for each car owner to be present in the car on the dyno, so they can observe the operator, and ask any questions/advice during the runs.

For those who want to take a look at their site and the information they have: http://www.pdtuning.com/

The date will be SATURDAY 24TH OCTOBER

If you want to attend, can you please copy and paste the list and add your name, if you are running, can you please indicate so.

Spectators welcome. Once the event has finished we plan to go onto one of the local eating house ;-)

If you need further information, please PM me.

Just got back from the afternoon, fantastic afternoon and a great turn out, nice array of cars which made it all the more interesting.....On the whole I think everyone was happy. Big thanks to Dave and the team at PDTuning who did an excellent job despite it being a very long day for them.

Thanks to everyone for making it a great afternoon, and was really good to see Paul chilling out and not stuck with his head under a bonnet/engine lid all the time :-)

Here's looking forward to the next one.

Thanks again everyone.

I told you Tony ......... Green is NOT your colour

I cannot remember what Tonys was, to be honest we are both neck and neck.

MINE:
291 Bhp @15 psi

Thats with Rev3, CT20B, Berk Tech IC, Berk Tech Exhaust, Water Injection, ARC Induction box.

It showed that the water injection was doing very little for power, in fact on one of Tonys runs he turned the WI off and the graph showed no difference.

In reality the WI was only put on to give some protection and not power gains.

I need to play with the Blitz i-Color, and if I get it right should be able to hit the 300 mark, I'm sure Tony will post his results up here.

As for the rest of the cars, from memory

JohnnyG Supra - 390
Shineybit Supra NA - 200
Chrysler SRT - 249
Almera - 90
Megane F1 - 227
Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo - 223 (for the record; Laura's car)

All in all an excellent afternoon.

Thanks Graeme for looking after my dad!

Although I wasnt there I sent my dad along with mine as I had a funny feeling something wasnt quite right.
My last power run saw 296bhp. Since then i have stuck an apexi turbo on.

Dissapointed to find it has REDUCED my power to 267bhp.
We believe its massivley overfuelling.

Have been recomended to get an safc to sort the fuelling.
So gonna get looking for one this week.

Does anyone know if I need a specific one (ie for mr2) or are they all the same?
Also is it an apexi item?

Best
Graeme

I made 288bhp which was up marginally (8bhp) from a few months ago but that £50 I saw Gtech slip Dave ensured he pipped me to the winning post.(LOL)

I was running WI this time so as Graeme mentioned, I switched the WI off and saw no change. Dave pulled up the graphs from my previous runs a few months back and for some reason my car was not holding boost as well. Need to check the setup on the AVCR.

On the whole a great day and good turn out for cars on the RR.

Nice results for 15psi Graeme :thumleft:

I wouldn't be too surprised that you didn't see a power difference between the water injection being on or off as the map timing or fueling wasn't altered in between.

In fact if you had been injecting primarily water (as opposed to alcohol) you might even see a slight loss of power with the water spraying. But as you say the water would provide an extra safety margin when running higher boost/more timing.

Any chance we can see the dyno scans for your run and the Supra one as well?

I was blown away with the 291.4 at 15psi........We were using 50/50 water meth and to be honest did'nt expect any improvement as we are just using for protection.

I will stick the graphs up when I get home tomorrow night.

I do need to play with the Boost controller settings to get it to kick in earlier though....but all in all very happy

It seems after speaking to a few people, they dont reccomend putting an safc on.
I dont really want to spend the money on a standalone!

Although im not really a number chaser, I would like to think that after spending 5k plus on mods I would have more than 22bhp to show for it! ](*,)
I would have got more bang for buck on a nova!

What do I do??

Hi Graeme,

Only option is a piggy back ecu if you dont want to go stand alone. Greddy emanage are cheap enough and Dave at PDTuning has worked with those before. Give him a call and get some advice from him.
