I used to use a 0W50 motorsport oil, but on the MK1 engines with higher miles found it had a tendancy of seeping past some seals when hot and under pressure.

For a little while I used Halfords 10W40 because I was changing oil every 2000 track miles. But after two big end failures in as many angines, I started using known brands - either Magnatec or Mobile.

I have since settled with Mobil Sport 10W40 and have had no problems in 6000 track miles.

My experiences have been with the 4AGE engine in the MK1, but doubt it will be much different for a 3SGTE.

Perhaps Rogue or the MKII racers could advise better though?

The guys at Opie oils are very helpful to a few of us racers - not sure if they export to Malta though. If you register your club, you can get further discounts. Check out www.opieoils.co.uk - there is even a "recommend an oil for my car" section!
