jumpy speedo??????

Post by GTSAARON »

Hi Chaps and Chapettes,

For some odd reason, on hard acceleration my speedo needle has a tendency to flick suddenly upwards by 20 mph or so for a split second, before returning back to where it should be. Any explanations welcomed :)

what type of speedo Delimiter / converter do you have fitted? sometimes the cheap ones cause problems like this

It was a chip from SVA parts down in Southampton. Cost £25 and just wired it in myself. I bet it has something to do with the delimiter though. The actual speed reads spot on in mph when its not jumping around all over the place lol

I would take the delimiter off and take the car out again and see if it does it.

Mine had a cheap delimiter fitted (Little black box with 3 or 4 wires comming out of it) and the speedo would jump all over the place eg driving at 60 mph and all of a sudden it will flick to 70 or 80 mph for a few seconds then back down to 60.

Also when I flashed my headlights the speedo would jump.

I bought a Clamping Delimiter, cost about £60 but it sorted the problem out :) :thumleft:
