the ciggy lighter hole is pretty much the perfect size and a nice location for it. If you're worried about losing a 12v power supply just get an additional socket. I've got a 4 port one that i've hardwired in so can run satnav, phone charger and dvr at the same time.

thanks for that mate, the only reason i didn't want to use the cigarette lighter location.was because of my sat nav.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] honda starter button
My 4 port extension was from halfords, but at £16 you can buy cheaper ones with a bit of looking around. Maplins, ebay etc.
I then simply took the ciggy lighter end apart, noted which was +ve and -ve, trimmed the ends up and put on 2 spade connectors. Route this under the dash into the connector block that sits on the back of the existing ciggy lighter.
At the moment my 4port is sat on the footwell floor, but will soon be housed in the glovebox, or on the side of the center tunnel.
Get an extension with switches so you can turn individual ones on and off.
Here is my starter button just to convince you even more...

oh, by the way... starting a car by button is by far the coolest way of doing a mundane task.

Or you could source a used starter button, and wire it in yourself

Mine used to work before my Turbo conversion, but since then (or possibly the Turbo timer installation) it no longer works despite all connections checked. Any ideas chaps?
Re: [Mk2] [Generic] honda starter button
so you turn the key first then press the button?? cheers

Rob, i would guess its the turbo timer harness thats causing issues. Perhaps try spliving the wires in on the other side of the harness.
Bolton, yes you just turn the key to the run position the press the button. Some say its just an extra step when you can just keep turning the key, but i like to feel something a bit special everytime i start her up.

Thanks bud - good call.
Re: [Mk2] [Generic] honda starter button
...can't seem to link the pic but is that how your button sits normally? Mine's flush in the back of the socket and for all intensive opurposes looks OEM in there. Here is my starter button just to convince you even more...
I believe these buttons were only about £28 from Toyota whan I got mine -so beware, my one and only purchase from the bay at £54 -a £28 button, a £4 relay and totally duff instructions. I don't know if the price for the buttons has changed now but they were that cheap before.
...great mod though. Something very satisfying about a push button start!!!
