Top of your gear box matey, speedo sender unit. If your stood at the back of your car, reach down to the left of your intake manifold onto top of gear box i think it`s a 2 or 3 wire plug. :thumleft:

I've heard that speed converter chips can cause the speedo to do the same thing, both the ones that fit on the gearbox and the ones that go behind the clocks. It's one thing to consider if your running a chip type converter/delimeter.

If you`ve had your clock out then it could be a loose cluster wire, but my money is on the gear box.

im having the same problem at the moment, the sensor on the gearbox appears to be fine(no rust, muck etcetc). took the clocks off and there seems no loose connections so i have bought a new speedo converter/delimiter in the hope its that. fitting tomorrow so ill see if it sorts it! hope you sort yours but itll one of those 3 problems!

FYI the speedo signal is a purple wire carried through the firewall behind the passenger seat down to the passenger side kick panel where it goes through a big chunky connector then up round the dashboard to the instrument cluster where it is (from memory) pin 8 on the blue connector, which should be the middle one. If you think your problem might be cable related then you can check continuity between the passenger footwell connector and the instrument cluster, and from the footwell back into the engine bay.
