ac gas convertion seals and stuff...

Post by BennyTheW »

I know that most people just rip the AC out but i was wondering if anyone
knew where i could get a proper BTW R134a conversion...?

Or at least the bits to do the conversion then get it filled somewhere else?

Thanks...

Ben...

Edit.........

Sorry just to clear up...

I have climate and air con fitted but it works on the old B13 gas so i can get it refilled...

I was wondering if anyone knows where i can get the seals/bits recommend to run the system on new ecofriendly gas, or if any company offers the service...

There is a thread from about a year or two ago that was in the MK2 section (then called General MR2) Thread was entitled aircon or somesuch.

There is an alternative refrigerant you can apparently use over the R12, but i can't remember what it was now.

You could try a search on 'MK2' for aircon or the derivatives.

Sorry for not being that helpful, but the answer is buried in the forum somewhere. Whether or not this other refrigerant works I don't know, but seems like your only option. We were lucky our R12 in our SE was fine.

IIRC the R12 replacement ( R134a ) is compatible with all the existing seals etc.

I'm sure it was something else rather than the obvious R134a which replaced R12 circa 1994.

 Sorry - RS24 is the 'drop-in' replacement for R12
