I replaced this the other day, and tonight the dreaded light has popped on and off constantly on the way home , But is now constantly on.
I have just replaced it with a used 2nd hand one and it was charging fully faultlesely,
however the belt snapped and i fitted a new belt.
Now i was wondering if the belt needs to be tight so the pulley doesnt slip under the belt, or should there be some slack as in any other belts throughout the engine??
Cheers guys

yeh your looking for around about 10mm of defection in the belt!! or less than 90 degrees of twist if that makes sense just not super tight or you run the risk of snapping the belt or worse wrecking the bearings in the alternator
