what turbo exhaust would you buy?

Post by dansREV2turbo »

can anyone give me some ideas please?

with a budget of £500 what exhaust would you buy (i prefer single exit), or would you blow the budget for something more expensive!

a reason would help me decide too but if you can't be bothered then just the name of it!!

at the moment im thinking KO r1, maybe hks hi power but the mild steel of the hks is putting me off..

any opinions will be greatly appreciated...

Will you be tracking the car? If so pick something that will pass the noise tests :)

+1 for KO - its the only way I'll go should I turn to the Single Exit (dark) side

as for tracking the car, i would like to one day, not anytime soon though.
the KO does come with a bung too which will help regarding this.

Blitz Nur Spec (ive got a bung and used it for 30 seconds!) its a noisy
ar5e brute, if you want compromise sound volume and performance, stay away!!!

N1's are supposed to be good! nice finish too!

but i do like loud!

good choice on the N1 but i think its too similar to my border exhaust.

Thikn the only Single I would go with would be the Nurspec as it still fills the back end out with the pipe work :)

is the performance gains any good on those X-S power exhausts , because I was thinking of getting one , I was a little worried about the size of the cans because they looked a little small but if it works well then I'll definatley get one

dont know if those XS power ones have been tested, never seen any dyno figures, saying that though ive never seen any for the other exhausts on offer. I'd be worried about fit and longevity. Nur spec may be bit noisy for track unless you use bung, Apexi N1 is very short single exit, but again noisy as are the 5zigen singles....

well after alot of thought ive gone with the KO R1.

nur spec had too much baggage and was £180 dearer, which to be honest i dont think is worth it!

ruled out twins too as ive had twins on my old 2 and my old fto.
i also didn't want the exhaust to be the centrepiece of the car.

no offence but japspeed is a definate no =;

Can you give us some feed back and plenty of pics when you get the KO - also where are you getting it from? Is there a UK supplier?

no probs mate ill get some pics up when i get it, it should be with me in 5-7 working days i was told.... im not sure yet weather to take the easy route and just fit it or the hard route and decat my car at the same time :-k

i was originally going to get it direct from KO @ £452 shipped but i was going to have to wait 4 weeks for delivery as the fabricater has 10 days off.

posted on mr2oc.com fo find that twosrus.com had 2 instock, worked out a touch dearer @ £469 shipped from the US.but i couldn't wait!

Yeah its only a couple £ so worth it to get it done. I'd say decat at the same time.

Its really not that hard of a job.

^ i hope its not too hard mate!
for an insight to my skills  , i did a cv boot on my car the other day, stripped everything down to just the driveshaft, then couldn't for the life of me get the universal stretch boot over the end! (yes i was using a cone!).
ended up using one of those split/glue ones :? .

i have a blitz cat replacement, would be so much easier if i could unbolt the cat from the elbow in situ, but i doubt that'll be easy!

woud think replacing just the cat is easier than removing the downpipe.

I admire you for taking on the CV boot. Driveshafts and gearboxes are the only things I won't touch. Rather pay someone to do them.

Give me an engine and electrics anyday

oh no cv boots are my limit when it comes to drive shafts/ gearbox stuff!

if it looks easy enough then id rather have a go myself than pay someone!

just a bit worried if the bolts shear (cat-elbow) then it'll be a right b1tch to do! if they don't then im laughing. i just can't see it going to easy!

preperation is key. Give them a dowsing with WD40 a couple of times the evening before, let it soak, maybe an hour, repeat, do it a few times the night before. Then also in the morning. I did this with the 4 manifold/turbo bolts and they nearly came off in my hand

that sounds the key then..ill do that then and leave the car where im going to do the work the night before (my mums garage).
ive already gave them a good dowsing in preperation but drove the car an hour later and it all steamed off out the engine lid   that'll tech me!

hopefully it worked a bit! and hopefully i haven't made it worse for myself!

Nah it will all help. Defo take the time to prep though, it will pay dividends when you come to do it.

Look forward to hearing how it went and what the new exhaust is like :thumleft:
