Downpipe or decat - which one is better?

Hi all,

Is having a downpipe or decat the same or having downpipe has its advantages over a decat?

Which downpipe is good to buy and how much should i be looking at paying for a downpipe fitting as i do not want to do it myself?

I own a MK2 Rev3 Tubby.

a downpipe has better air flow, the berk ones are probably the best as they have a flexi, i bought a cheap xs one for £49 about 2.5 years ago and it still works fine, luck of the draw i guess

when was your car built as after summer '95 they must have a cat for the mot...

i guess it would be a 1-2 hour job depending on who is doing it, i tried decatting once and will never do it again, took a full day and had to drill bolts out of the cat etc. etc.

Mine is decatted and it still passes MOT but i need to find out whether it was built.

That is exactly what i mean. I would rather pay and get it done as i do not want to spend hours under the car.

i have a berk downpipe on mine really makes a big difference turbo spools so much better according to my boost gauge just under 1bar.mine went through mot ok without the cat first reg... december 95 but i think the tester done a non cat test
