Retro Gamer mag

Post by nakamura »

Hey peeps. With the talk of some of the older games and the forum mentioned recently does anyone buy or read Retro Gamer?

Well my cousin Darran is the editor and a mate is a writer and hopefully I will be getting some freelance work too interviewing some japanese developers.

Its a cracking mag and as I can't be doing with these modern HD consoles its perfect for me!

Yup, read it all the time and have done for years now, brilliant mag :thumleft:

A lot of the stuff is too old even for me at nearly 30, but anything from the CPC6128 on (which was featured last month or the month before I believe) and I'm hooked. It's written with a great sense of humour but also by people who are obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject, and it does show.

Darran was saying this month that it's a nightmare interviewing Japanese developers, so you've done well there :D

One of the lads brings it in work so i get to read it (and it's where i found out about the PS2 remake of Adventure Island i've just purchased :D) I prefer reading it for the retro info TBH, Have they published the article regarding the whereabouts of the MIA Amiga version of Putty Squad yet?

I read it occasionally. Last episode I picked up had the article about Level 9 (game developers) in it - I work for these guys! Obviously they're not making games anymore, but other software.....

I loved Putty Squad Andy but not sure if they have published it yet! I havent started working yet its just something Darren mentioned recently.

Its certainly a well written mag. Darren is one of the most knowledgable in the industry and is more of a geek than me!
