[Mk2] [Turbo] REV3 Misfire / boost problems

Post by Chris.L »

I've owned a REV3 turbo for several weeks now with mild modifications of: HKS intake, downpipe, s/s exhaust, Greddy boost guage and running a stock boost set up.

When I get to max boost 0.7/0.9 bar the engine will hesitate, like as thou im hitting the rev limiter due to a misfiring

I've checked the ECU and there were no fault codes stored before reseting, i'm using only V-power and also have a new disty cap, rotor, leads and iridium BKR7E1X plugs fitted correctly gapped to 0.8mm

I've also done a temporary test disabling the t-vsv so it's not that nor can it be fuel cut at these boost levels.

Is there anything else that anybody can suggest I can check myself before spending cash with a specilist to diagnose this problem????

I had the same problem, I gapped my plugs down a little further, another 0.2 and that fixed it for me. Might be worth a try mate.

Also, my ECU coolant temp sensor cause some weird problems that were very similar. Might be worth changing that too if you dont have any luck, they are pretty cheap from camskill.

try copper plugs. 10quid from local factors. IIRC you're not supposed to regap iridium plugs as the tips are very brittle and known to break when adjusting them
