[Mk2] [Turbo] AEM Bosch Wideband replacement sensor ?

Post by JJ »

As the title suggests.... it seems when these things go out of calibration, they cannot be recalibrated.. so hand in my pocket again ??!!

Anyone know where I can get one at a good price ??

I've found one for $120 + tax & VAT... which is a little salty for a 02 sensor ??! :-k

$120!!! and you want cheaper!!!

After what you've chucked at the car in the last 3 months, I consider $120.00 to be a lonely mars bar on a shelf amongst a giant wholesalers! :clown:

Is that a trick question ??!! Mines lasted a year ! My brothers supras on its 3rd one ! :-k I'm only going by the AEM one though !! Im sure the more heavy duty portable types will last longer... but I like having that information readily available if the engine runs lean !

Jonny, you running the senso straigh in the downpipe/exhaust pipe? you can get cooling spacers that screw into the zorst & sensor screws into that, it's stops the sensor tip getting melted. a bit like a mini heat dispensor type thingy!

I was just looking through my files. My Innovate kit uses a wideband Bosch O2 and a VAG wideband controller -I didn't use the Innovate gauge. The VAG controller can be re-set by grounding a connection to do a free-air callibration.

Is it this AEM unit (looks like the controller is part of the gauge rather than separate)...

http://www.aempower.com/ViewProduct.aspx?ProductID=73

....looks like the AEM kit can't be re-callibrated like the Innovate but they seem to list some sort of a callibration process.

http://www.aempower.com/images/products ... 0-4100.pdf (page 3, page 9/10/11 for the callibration)

That's the same sensor (LSU4.2) -which is also supposed to be a factory fit item with the controller on VAG cars now so I would have thought there shouldn't be an issue with reliability??!!??

BTW Graham Goode in Leicester have replacement Bosch LSU4.2 wideband sensors listed at £56.43 + VAT.

Stupid server... lost everything I wrote again....

Did have a nosy at the site, good link... but I'm a sucker for the AEM because of its digital readout and sweep... and with an output for datalogging... ideal tool for tuning too ! Be sure to check for auxilary output voltage on these units as not all have them available.

Nitrous - A must... and a must for the use of a wideband. I had a narrow band that indicated I was still running plenty rich, using the SAFC2 to remove some top end fueling.. .. was inaccurate from the results of running nitrous and causing the motor to spit the plug electrodes through the turbo and out the exhaust !! #-o Combination of running lean / too much ignition advance as the AFC frigged the load values at the top end = det ! #-o

Get a decent clutch dale and you'll have a right hoot !
