Of the 5 MR2s I've had, the three UK cars had dimmers, both JDMs did not.

I mean the backlights. Mines got lockwood dials, and I think they have been put over the top of the old dials and its so dark at night I can barely see the speedo, I have to use my Snooper for the MPH.

hmmmm its not that hard to be honest just a bit of patience needed, might be a bit of a pain getting dials off thay are normally put on with that 3m adhesive stuff,
i done mine with prit stick if ever i want to take mine off i can you have to be very carfull with needles, have you thought of replacing dash bulbs with led's that might help and save you taking clocks apart.
my dash lights were pathetic hence why i bought my visual performance one's white dials and el glow in one hit job done :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

These things are the most pointless things invented? I can only assume they there to stop dazzling you while driving at night but the dash lights are so dim anyway its pointless!

Thanks for the info. Just thought it was strange that US and UK MKIIs had a dimmer and JDM cars don't.

Change the stock 3.4W bulbs for 5W items (sidelight bulbs). Did mine few weeks back, what a difference -my dimmer only needs to sit half way maximum now.

Good tip there, might give it a go.
Although I've got some Speedhut dials, the needles could be a bit brighter :)
