HD cable ps3 installation help

man im so stressed, just gone out and bought a hdim cable made by phillips, seems ok but im no expert,
anyway plugged it into the ps3 and tv, went to settings and it doesnt pick it up,
how do i install this thing set it up and do i keep the original scart in??
please please help

First of if the cable is 1-2m then any cheap cable will do, dont waste money on anything over £10.

If the PS3 is already set up to use scart it may not pick up hdmi straight away. There are reported issues with the hdmi handshake.

Does it work fine with scart and does it allow you to select hdmi from the output menu?

lol, the same thing happened to me last week, i then went down to comet and spent another £30 on a better cable only to have the same problem

turned out all i had to do was go into the settings of the ps3 and set it for 1080p and also set the output for hdmi plus set the optical link output, once you figure out what your doing it just takes a min to set up, worst thing was my original cable works fine now so i ended up wasting £30

Basically i first bought cheapy for 10 pounds, didnt work, then went to currys and spent another 20 on another.
Turns out i didnt tune the tv to hd well something like that.
But what an amazing difference best 30 quid (even though its only worthy of 20) i have spent for a while
so anyone want to buy hd cable brand new works fine

I spent less than a fiver on my hdmi cable from ebay and it gives perfect 1080p res. Any one saying you need to spend more money for a better picture is just lying. Never even seen proof the long ones make any difference. Did i read it right that you were trying to run both a scart and hdmi lead? Why?

99p on my cable lol, no difference between that and the £25 one I have laying around somewhere (no I didn't pay that for it)
