Used mycarcheck.com yesterday to check out a car I was thinking of buying. Turns out the car had been stolen / recovered and written off twice!

That was a lucky escape! Having worked in the car auction industry for little while, its incredible just how many cars have a dodgy history. I always check my cars now

Just used this myself today.

It's so quick! Tells you history of vehicle in quite a lot of detail...mine came up with a previous plate change from a private plate. Rang them up to confirm this didn't hide any dodgy history, and it doesn't.

Thoroughly recommended if you are thinking of buying a car.

try a reg check.

text the reg number to 83600, same service.
I did it about a car parked down my road for a month.
Came back with two texts saying it was stolen and the local police number to phone.

do any of these tell you if there is any finance owing on the car?
just used mycarcheck and it doesnt say
it did reveal something slightly suspicious though
i paid an extra £5 as it said there was some mileage verification history with this check

i assume this would be when the dealer aquired the vehicle
would have to check with the previous owner to make sure it hasnt been clocked
