Front wing Fitting

Post by Lee_MR2 »

I know this has been covered before but I was wondering when I replace my front wing will I need to get all new screws from Toyota and which ones to ask for.

I am also going to be replacing the small panel in front of the wing (valance I think) and was wondering how easy this is to get off.

Lastly, roughly how much have people paid to have there wings painted?

Hi Lee

The screws that attach the wing to the body can all be reused without any problem, the one that is low down under the side strip and connects into the sill will be rusted and probably shear off and need drilled out. The most awkward nuts though are where the front edge of the wing connects to the bumper cover this is clamped on with a horse shoe shaped bracket with 3 studs on it. Again it will most likely be rusted up and be difficult to undo. May need to replace this bracket. The valances are pretty much the same chances are the bolts will shear off and need replacing. Can't really say what the painting costs would be but I'd guess at roughly £100

try 10 x 91655-40616 and some little rubber things 4 x 90950-01379
check the numbers when you are there. if you use the old ones they should still be painted. new ones are nice but will need a touch up.

If you've not found them they are on the top edge of the wind where it attaches to the car.

I have no real idea what they are for, but thought something to do with stopping the wing rattling in situ. They may also help give that little bit of 'play' when seating the wing in the correct position with the rest of the bodywork just before tightening everything up.

Does anyone know really know thier use?
