Kent Car Craft's "Black Ninja"

Post by Whippett »

Full spec is in my garage http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/garage.php ... e&CID=2407

Some shots taken at Santa Pod on Sunday at Street Nationals. Had a few problems on the day, I blew the turbo to manifold gasket which may have caused the fuel cut problems, or the fact that it was a very hot day and my oil temps were soaring. Time for an oil cooler methinks, what sort of oil temps should I be seeing after giving it some welly?

Best time on the day was 13.1 @ 108mph, but I should be seeing 12s easily, I put this down to the aforementioned issues and the fact my head is totally stock... Although that is being amended very soon

Oil temps were hitting 125-130'C

That's correct, it used to belong to Patrick!

that car is yummm mate! :thumleft: good pics too!

about the head tho... there is someone on the usa board with a stock head + cams and inlet! but running a 3076r + c16 hitting 10.88 and pushing 450odd whp!

So, the oem head is quite capable!

I've been advised that because the head is totally stock it is working overtime so generating heat, the boost pipes are getting mega hot too so the engine bay temps are probably immense.

I'm ordering me a Rogue engine lid fan kit as well as an oil cooler which should sort this. I'm also getting some very extensive headwork done, I'd like to see 450bhp.

Running Silkolene Pro 5W 40 i hit temps of around 90 deg on a round town run and anything up to 105-110 on a hard run. Temp taken via my Defi gauge and fully forged engine.

Cheers guys! I'm really pleased with the looks, the IC was designed with performance, looks AND practicality in mind I still have most of the boot free! The boot floor has been re-structured to accomodate a scoop.

During mapping, we were seeing ACTs of 37'C which went up to 47'C after LOTS of boosting. I'm considering CO2 spray for it to cure heat soak as obviously there is only air-flowing through it when I'm on the move! It has no fan at present as I didn't see it necessary at the time, air-flow is probably huge whilst moving.

Alright Simmo mate? Still one of the best looking MR2s around IMO! You won't recognise the engine bay though!

I got a shocking pull away, still trying to fatham out the best way to launch with this launch control malarky!

Having seen Paul's car during the build stage, I can confirm that the fabrication work on the AMIC is first rate. :thumleft: In no way whatsoever does the IC look "stuck on"

I have to agree as well, this is one of the best looking mk2s around. Definitely the meanest looking  :D

Well... what I thought was simply a gasket blowing, turned out to be a little more serious! When we went in to inspect the problem, we found this!

The wastegate to manifold adaptor has broken clean off! Poor design really as this flimsy little pipe supports the weight of the wastegate and the screamer. there is a new adaptor on it's way, but we're going to have to brace the screamer to avoid it happening again, the car's only done 1,500 since being mapped.
