The Buddy Club splitter returned from it's travels this weekend and today I got it back on the car. Very happy to have it back looking good again and less like a TR7!

A really nice repair and respray job all round. Got a few things left to do with rust/respray on the exterior (and those nasty squint Supercharger stickers on the door - still looking for good replacements), but the list is getting smaller. T-bar leak and horrible bolt on aerial/fog light next up!

P

PS If you want a Buddy Club replica splitter like mine I believe Paul Woods has them available now ;-)

I am very interested in the Buddy Club splitter and will contact PW when I have been paid at the end of the month!

So glad you've got a white '2 as now I can see how this would look on mine!

Is it easy to fit?

I think Peter's looking to get his car airborne!

The splitter is very easy to fit - I just replaced using the bolts I took off when I sent it away to get fixed!

If you are replacing the standard splitter with Paul Wood's version I believe it's a straight swap. His is in two parts like the stock one.

It's a long way from finished though Lauren. The previous respray was terrible and there are a few areas that need work. Also I doubt those squint door decals will come off easily ;-)

Hopefully get some nice weather this week so I can get the after market aerial removed and fix the windscreen top rust and also remove the nasty aftermarket fog light. Trouble with that is it will just accentuate the fri88ing massive exhaust more ;-)

MK1b coupe with sunroof is 1050kg.

I never weighed an NA t-bar. It will be more though.

MK1a is the lightest at 1030kgs.

Someone at Curborough insisted that they are very light & only weigh 800kg

I knew it was more but coudn't remember the details :)

MK1s will never be light. 5 bulkheads sees to that. Look how much metal there is compared to most other cars that have three bulkheads.

I'm guessing it might have been F800 EAM, which was mostly fibreglass (yes I've driven that car on track). That was very light. But, I still don't believe 800kgs.

I'm guessing the person at Curborough was ill informed.

Some of the MK1 racers on here will be able to tell you what their cars weigh in at. The trouble is when you start stripping everything off, you end up adding a rollcage which puts the weight back.

Don't need a rollcage for sprinting though

Will have to put one in if i go racing :thumleft:

Mine weighs (it's the heaviest version) 970kg. I have a shipping note for 980kg.

Weight varies from 940-970kgs. It only has three bulkheads, though so is obviously going to lighter than an MR2. IIRC the booted version of the AE86 is 910kgs!

Peter you are still running with your side skirts so that'll take more than a few grams off.

I compensate weight with pure unadulterated grunt on my builds, honestly all this weight saving melarkey goes by the wayside, you just end up making a noisy and less comfortable car, i'd rather have all the trimmings and double the torque instead.

Peter if you had less coils on your Jamex springs that'd probably save weight too :thumleft:
