Oh, don't worry on that score.

I'd feel so empty, lost and unloved if i didn't wake up to my daily "So how did you get on yesterday? Got any pics?" email...

A combination of Karl, O2 and his reprobate of a puppy have left Karl phoneless for a couple of weeks, so detailed discussions with regards to certain aspects of the engine presentation were delayed until this weekend.

I am now onto some custom paintwork, and photos will be coming within next couple of days. Engine will be fitted this week if all goes to plan.

Whoever said that owning two spaniels is either a good idea or the fact that it won't be ridiculously hard work is a liar!

As Peter eluded to, my 20 week old field spaniel literally ate my phone so updates haven't been as free flowing as they should have been. Peter has been cracking on with it though and we discussed a few interesting things on the weekend... I'm sure upcoming photos will tell all.

To start with Peter had a new Camry water elbow delivered. The Lexus one is being binned as it wouldn't fit correctly because of the filler neck. Or rather should I say it would fit but would need some serious modification. This will look and work a lot more oem. Seen below are the old and new side by side. No prizes for guessing which one is the new one lol.

Image

The throttle body has then been dismantled fully. It's been dropped off at a vapour blaster so that it comes back like new. A lot of the engine parts have already gone through this but due to its more delicate nature softer media will be used to clean it.

Image

Peter then came up with an idea for a manifold cosmetic modification. The manifold had only recently come back from the vapour boasters and was looking like new. Peter suggested painting the lower banks of the manifold to match the engine and leaving the upper banks as they were.

After a discussion about the idea it was quickly decided that it would look lovely and had to be done. The manifold was masked up properly which took two hours alone to ensure it had a nice line to it without any bleeds.

Image

The bare areas then got etch primed, painted and lacquered

Image

It was then left to dry, masking tape removed and fitted up to see how it would look

It's looking pretty damn good in my opinion. Gives it something a bit different.

I know that Peter plans to finishing a few bits and pieces on, before lifting into the newly cleaned engine bay shortly

More pics and updates to follow soon :thumleft:

Thanks mate, I'm pleased with how it's looking.
I'm getting itchy feet and just want to drive it now

Since the last update Peter has finished the top end build and has been sorting out some of the wiring and looms and fitting them to the engine. He is also modifying the alternator wiring so that it can stay in its original position.

Here is how its progressed:

That's my old rad cap on there which has clearly seen better days. It's looks like its split on the side but actually isn't. I'm in the process of trying to source a very cheap new one just so that it doesn't let the engine bay down.

As Peter said in his last post the plan was to have the engine in by the end of last week but that hasn't happened. I'm hoping the engine will be in and fired up before Peter goes to Le Mans, that way the car can be left with the custom exhaust fabricators so that it continues to progress. Fingers crossed.

More updates shortly :thumleft:

I got a new rad cap for the Shogun on Milners offroad (same as the one on the 2) for about £6-7. So it shouldn't be scary prices! Don't pay a lot for a fancy sticker, caps are pretty much all standard, though I would love to find one of top quality...

I thought it was supposed to be all clean... Pete, you missed a spot! [-X

It's looking really good now! Fingers crossed for you that the engine can be fitted soon for the exhaust fitting!!! :thumleft:

Who's doing the exhaust? I had ProSpeed in Cardiff do the Shogun (cracking job!) and will be back there for a side exit on the 2 later this year if possible.

Thanks for the heads up ref the rad cap, did you buy it online? I will have a gander on their website and see if I can find it :thumleft:

Ref the exhaust Peter has a contact in Barnsley who he uses to custom fabricate stainless ones for nobles and they are going to be doing it. I don't have their details to hand but they are highly recommended. I need a very capable company due to the custom work that will be done on the exhaust.

Well the engine still isn't in and Peter has now left for Le Mans. He will be returning a week on Tuesday (the 24th I believe) when I hope it will be worked on and finished ASAP.

I want my car back
