I couldnt stand the thought of standing in my room on my own waving my arms around like a tit.

I've only played bowling, tenis and golf. Only liked Bowling of the three. Of all the rest of the games available I'd say they all look like kids games.

I play most games alone. In fact pretty much all games all the time I play alone.

And PS3's are still region locked for normal DVD's

Edit matt beat me to it

Games are region free - but as a rule, the movies are region coded - BUT, there are exceptions.

Not sure why but there are region A discs which will play on region players and vice versa - there is some site that lists them. Very handy, as prices on US movies via Amazon.com are much better values that here in Europe.

On the games, you might have an issue with Online play. I got European version of MotorStorm - when I play Online, I can select to play on servers in Europe or Aus/Nzd. So, if you and your mate had MotorStorm (you had cheaper US game and he had european version) and wanted to play via the Net, I think that you copuldn't connect to the same servers and hence play against your mate.

Found link to region free movies

While looking, I found this !!

Multi-region Blu-Ray players ! http://www.planetomni.com/Prod_BLURAY.shtml

Even if they were relatively cheap, don't go for them. The BD standard is set to go to 2.0 later this year and that will support all the Extra features". A lot of BD players out there at the moment are BD 1.0 - pS3 is 1.1 because it was upgradeable :D

So, best bet at the moment is to stick with a PS3 - if you do see a cheap standalone BD player, don't go for it unless it is firmware upgradeable or is already BD 2.0 compiant - you won't be able to avail of all the extra content/features when discs start to contain BD 2.0 features

Not sure what it stands for but it's basically the Blu-Ray firmware version.

BD 2.0 is also known as BD Live.

If it's availabe to download, then it can be burned onto Blu-rayor transferred to a PS3 HDD

Saw Blu-Ray PC burners for 250 euro - only about £180 !

And Ps3 backups seem to be easy enough

Disclaimer : I do not support or condone making illegal copies. Just use this technology to make backups ...cough ... of original HD movies that you already own (but have lost somewhere in your house..... )

You cant download films on xbox live and then copy them.

Dosnt matter though, they're only cheap and I'll more than likely only watch it once. I've already seen it 4 times in SD

It'd make sense for Paramount to go to Blu-Ray sooner rather than later ? They can release Transformers on HD-DVD and also Blu-Ray.

Paramount are doing Iron Man as well - I definitely want to get that on blu-Ray :D

Was it Paramount that went exclusively to HD?

Bet they're regretting that...

Yeah, they were originally with both formats and then about 5 months ago went HD-DVD exclusive !

Whoever in Paramount made that decision is going to be taken off a few Christmas card lists !

But, they do have some get-out clause - not sure of the details but am sure it will help Toshiba with some $$$ when they have to shut-down their HD-DVD plants (or convert them to Blu-Ray - as of now, they say they have no plans to move to Blu-Ray - am sure they will eventually)

Deal I just found in HMV.

PS3 40gb.
HDMI lead.
2 of selected games
Fifa 08
2 blurays
£60 Bluray voucher.

£350

I could sell the games for about £30 each :thumleft:
