Nice work lads, that was a pretty quick recovery considering!

Just so you know...

Could not connect to smtp host : 111 : Connection refused

DEBUG MODE

Line : 114
File : /home/imoc/public_html/forums/includes/smtp.php

When sending PMs... this has now changed to a Relay Access Denied error so I guess this is one of the bits you're tinkering with!

Yep, just been working on the mail servers.

Where someone has asked for email notification of updates to a thread, or on new PM arrival you will get this error.

There's some more tinkering to be done this evening, and this is on the to-do list.

FWIW from some testing I've done AOL are at the moment rejecting all inbound email from IMOC as Spam.

I'm not convinced it's a problem with AOL, but we shall see.

Checking the mail server logs, mail destined to AOL is refused and the error message gives you a URL which basically says one of their customers has reported mail from you as spam.

Therefore they have blocked us.

They don't seem to provide a way to 'appeal' or resolve this block unlike if your mail servers are Blacklisted by organisations like Spamhaus - hence:

Ta - yep, that's a known issue - it relates to the mailserver on our dedicated box - we've got the security settings wound up a notch too high, but to fix it there are a few other thing that need to be done.

Basically if as a result of you posting a message, or sending a PM an email is sent (eg someone watching the same topic, or getting PM notifications) then
you'll see this error message - but your PM or post will have successfully been posted.

We'll be working on this and other things this evening so there will be short periods when the site may be unavailable.

If you're seeing any more errors, post away here so we can track what else may need some work.

Cheers Harry

FWIW - I can see from the mail server logs you're 'watching' a number of topics but you either won't be getting email notifications from IMOC, or they will be delayed by a number of hours.

AOL were yesterday refusing email from us, but today it appears they're deliberately deferring/delaying accepting messages ( a well known tactic to deter spammers - they dont' tend to retry sending spam) and some are now getting through.

Code: Select all
