Stop the car and pull over. Now you're safe, why is it an emergency?

Why would someone want to jack your car? A Corsa costs more than your car. If someone is going to get jacked it'll be from their X5 or other POS SUV.

The only time an evo would be jacked is for a robbery, but even then they'd just steal one the normal way. Even my car is only worth 20k, less now probably. There are far more desirable cars to thieves on the roads.

car-jacking seems to be becoming a "normal" way of getting cars though. that's all part of the problem.

now if we had that south african flame thrower deterrent from it ...

If you did that they'd just hang up on you, and rightly so. 999 is for emergencies, not pissing about.

You have a fair point.

Although, I would still ring if I did feel threatened. Simple they could kill someone driving erratically (forgetting you suspect they are coppers and all).

Ring them all you want, they'll just hang up. The system they use diverts you to a recorded message telling you that you are not calling about an emergency and gives you other numbers to call. If you phoned 999 saying someone was driving erratically they'd just hit the button to free the line for the next person....who is probably calling 999 cos the dropped their ice cream on the ground.

It does happen.

An of duty officer in a BMW kept tailgating me and I unfortunately took the bate and sped of.

At the next lights he pulled out his id card and said "when did that 40 road turn in to a 60?"

He let me off thou and said dont let it happen again. Dick.

Think he wanted to see how fast my car was ;) or couldnt do anything as he was off duty?

I had a marked Police Range Rover drive 3 feet off my back bumper last year, trying to egg me on to go over 60 in a 60 zone. They sat on my tail for about a mile then backed off and sped off. Same things happened to a couple of folk I know. They just look at the the little sports car, driving spot on the limit and try to see if they can P*SS you off enough to take the bait.

Oh and it's funny seeing all those Scottish unmarked cop cars with 2 20 stone coppers in the front seats with massive luminous yellow jackets on, you can normally see them miles off. No doubt elsewhere they try and wear something less obvious.

If a marked Police vehicle drove that close to me I would just pull in and park up and let them go and hassle someone else!

I had an unmarked tailgate and try to bait me once (didn't have my 2 back then - but the fact I was driving a mate's Escort RS Cosworth may have got their juices flowing! ). Sussed them almost immediately but didn't react so they had no idea they'd been clocked. They got a bit of a surprise when I led them straight to the parking lot of the local nick!

What they hadn't reckoned on was my being the representative for our local Residents Association on the Police Community Consultative Group. So at that time I was on first name terms with the local Borough Commander. :)

I had a friendly chat with him later that day and told him what I thought of his officers trying to goad car drivers into committing offences!

What if some xxxxxx nutter just wants to beat/bludgeon/stab/shoot you? Unless you had the xxxxxx Batmobile it wouldn't matter how much your car was worth.

You just never know with some of the xxxxxx mad bastards out there today.

If someone wanted to do that they'd do it to a pedestrian, not go to the bother of stopping a motorist.

Could be brought on by road rage, I very much doubt someone would then stop and take it out on a pedestrian.

Pff, I'd like to see them catch me. I drive an evo...the fastest car on the road, ever. I can even phone the police as they give chase cos it drives itself :rambo:

Just imagine a small, nice little blonde or brunette lady driving along in their MR2. Having a nice day.

Imagine that person os your girlfriend. Then apply the two cars with their eratic behaviour. Would they get scared? Possibly? Would it be right to call the police then? Possibly?

The end point is that the Police are supposed to uphold the law and not do some of the things they do! Instead of having statistical targets to acomplish, how about removing all that absolute rubbish, to let the police be what they should be!

I once witnessed a police 'person' look at my car in a petrol station, get in their support van and 'wheelspin' out of the station.

I got pulled a couple of years ago in my MK1 by a copper - turns out they had one sitting up the road and another down the road. He called in cars for them to pull.

So I happily pull in, in the knowledge I'm all taxed, MOT'd and insured, was not speeding and was just generally minding my own business. Ask what's the problem Officer?

When he'd picked his lower jaw up from the floor (obviously wasn't expecting a woman in her thirties in a bodykitted MR2 :D ) he accused me of being on my mobile, which was sitting on the seat beside me. I hadn't. I told him he could check my records if he wished. He declined but gave me a producer anyway.

It did not endear me to local plod to be pulled for nothing and then them trying to use something he spotted on my passenger seat as an excuse.

Funny you mention the Hatfield area Skipp...thats where I'm based until next week but in the 3 years I've been here I've noticed so many unmarked police cars ranging from BMW's to Skodo Octavia VRS's driving around....

Then there's the marked cars....the usual Vauxhalls but I've seen a few marked BMW's driving around too....

Makes me wonder why they need so many of them...its only a small town. Saying that, during term time the population doubles with the mass influx of students...can imagine alot of the police presence is for keeping them in line...

But its not term time now and there's still just as many cars, vans and unmarked cars driving round...

Was pulled myself last year for doing 40 in a 30 but the two coppers were fairly young lads and let me off. They did make me change my number plates though as they said they weren't legal...oh well, better than 3 points and a fine...
