Re: IMOC Trackday - Anglesey March 2006
just a quick one lauren about the helmets, i have a motor bike helmet that conforms to UK standards but currently with a loose visor
(due to stupidiness that is combination of icy roads, a corner and pretty nippy two stroke scooter), but if i was to remove the visor can you still use the helmet on the track???

No probs with no visor providing you are in a car with a screen.

So unless you are going to drive with no windscreen you will be fine.

Just need to fix the car now mate.
Why is it whenever we book a track day we have loads to do on the car? Tho last time was funny fitting the engine in at midnight the night before

Re: IMOC Trackday - Anglesey March 2006
This sounds a daft question, but my car has over 300bhp, will this be too much for this track, I mean, is it a bit tight and twisty and will just end up frustrating me by not letting me stretch its legs?

What sort of speeds do you guys get up to on the faster parts of the course?

Hope that didn't sound arrogant or something by the way, its not meant to be!

Thanks

Simon

Well it is a fairly short track adn you are unlikely to be hitting 130mph down the straight, but that said it does have one of the fastest corners in the country.

Its one of those tracks where lapping quickly really depends on the driver IYSWIM.

Speedwise was hitting nearly a 100mph in my SC and around 95mph in my NA.

.
.
i've been round in caterhams, erises etc which are a fair bit quicker than a 300bhp tubby and it was a hoot.

Its one of those tracks where lapping quickly really depends on the driver IYSWIM.So i don't think it really matters how much or little power you have really.
Speedwise was hitting nearly a 100mph in my SC and around 95mph in my NA.Think you may see 105-110mph down the main straight but i doubt you'd get over that.
Tbh thats plenty fast enough coming up to School corner which if you are good you will enter at around 75mph.

is school the first corner at the end of the main straight?
going to have to watch the imoc footage a few more times to get know the layout a bit better

Yep

If you have a look through the footage that will give you an idea of the circuit layout

Needs a bit of welding, both rear calipers are siezed(!), rear arches need doing

Have you still got two MK1's?

Dom
Re: IMOC Trackday - Anglesey March 2006
Hmmm, not too bad.
I know a good
(and cheap) body work chap in Liphook if you're interested and I could have a go at the calipers in the new year if you like.

Down to one Mk1 now, the coupe was so rotten I gave it to Eddie
.

Sorry Lauren totally OT.
