which route would you suggest?

brand new replacement..........how much?

second hand genuine item?

any other option??

I'd take it to a good auto electrician and get it reconditioned, it won't cost half what a new one will. :thumleft:

went to a knowledgeable garage in Stockport. The guy said to check out whether the earth strap was still connected to the the engine.

Get home to check said lead, and there was my fan belt sat in the bottom of the engine bay. oops.

He did however quote me 2 hours labour @ £40 plus vat to fit an Alternator should it require one..

Two other garages turned me down, including a bloody mate of mine. Grrrr

car has gone in today. phone call this afternoon. Alternator seazed................. bu88er

recon alternator fitted, £200 plus VAT.

once they get the reco unit #-o

Alternator seized again!!!
Not happy, obviously out of warranty. ](*,)
