<sigh>
Evening guys & gals, I can't get into my friggin boot . I went to unlock it on my way back from work this avo & the key turned in the lock, but the boot wouldn't open.
I went to pull on the boot release lever on the drivers side & it has no tension to it. The lock on the boot is now horizontal, instead of vertical & I can't turn it back to it's original position.
I'm pretty sure it's the cable thats snapped, but how do I get into the boot to fiddle around
Cheers in advance guys,
Rich
yup.
if you're no good at lockpicking then try wd40 and a bit of force when turning the key, and it should open. A bit of banging on the panel with help.
constant problem in my old T-bar
Can anyone give me a solution to this please? I lost my main key at the weekend, spent ages looking for it, gave up, switched to my spare key, which I used on the boot (to check if I'd locked the originals in there), it turned the lock horizontal, but now I can't turn the lock at all, nor does the remote release work. Aaaargh!
I think you may have accidentally dead locked it matey...if you turn the key the wrong way it stops anyone opening the boot without the key...to make it safer to leave personal possesions in the boot while the car is at the garage or something....but it seems to be a common fault for the lock to stick shut.
You have to wd-40 the lock and keep wiggling the key in there (slightly in and out while constantly trying to turn it back to vertical), it@s easy to snap the key if your frustration gets the better of you so just keep on going at a steady pace and you WILL get there in the end...lol...I have done this...fkn twice
Thanks, but there must be a more scientific solution than wd40 and wriggling!
I've since found, as you say, by using what I thought was just a copy of the main key, but isn't, I've put the boot into valet mode. Presumably the poper way to get it out of that mode is to use the master key.
But as I've lost that, I guess I should try and order another (and then the one I've lost will turn up!). is there any other option, or do I have to go the wd/wriggle route?
I had another key cut today, not realising the one I've left is the limited valet key ...
i have seen this problem and was told if this ever happens to drill a hole in the dead center of the center pannel and though the back pannel and you can flip the latch.
this is a last resort as it makes a mess
Thanks everyone, I'm back in the boot now, I managed to get in using the key I'd used to accidentally put it into valet mode, plus the wd40 / wriggle technique. No force or drilling needed
