I thought Replikit were meant to be good? :?

I got a border bumper from a member on here and the fitment wasnt perfect.I asked for the foglights to be cut out anyway so dont know if that fitment was bad but down the sides stick out a bit like yours do from the front profile :-k

Hi MR2nut,

Non of the Border front bumpers line up with the original fog light position.

Most people either lose them, build a bracket to move the fog outwards or bond it straight onto the bumper. Nothing wrong there mate, that's just how they are, how's the rest of the fit??

Not too sure on the rest of the fit as I havent seen it myself yet, but been told that it's a flimsy awful fit. Is there any other front bumpers that will go nice with the border kit but fit perfectly and surround the fogs ok?

I think as the rest of the Kit is 'Beefy' most front bumpers will look out of place but thats my opinion.I think maybe a Bomex front might just pull it off though :-k

Your right, that's what I think but it's worth a try to see is there's any kind of bumpers I haven't seen before. I'll see what the rest of the fitment is like and if push comes to shove he'll have to just lose his fogs.

Not sure on the fitment of the fogs as I only ever looked at the Border front. Sard is another that may go well with the Border set up or a large lip on the standard such as Greddy.

Sorry

As i've now been told that the holes are for airflow/design and not to surround the fogs (although I believe this is a bit of a fib to cover up bad moulding..) i've now convinced the guy to remove his fogs and put some black mesh in there to cover the big hole. Should look good when done providing it doesn't take too much messing about with to remould the corners of the bumper. Fibreglass tat ey

hows the fit with the indicators / side lights / reflectors? I saw a replica border bumper and the side lights didnt fit in the holes, the side light holes were about 1.5cm too small on one side and about 0.5cm too small on the other

Genuine Bumpers all the way I say, even if they do cost more its well worth it.

I bought a damaged Gen. border bumper that arrived on a car from Japan (bottom was damaged must have hit a ramp), got it home took my old smashed border bumper off and put this on and the fit was Perfect. Its about 1mm off but you can hardly tell and to be honest a quick undo of the wing bolts I could probably adjust the wing a fraction. Not bad considering it came off another car and just went straight on with no modding :thumleft:

I paid £175 for it with the damage which I know is the same price as the replicas but I went for it for easy fitting :thumleft: (its all repaired now and looks new :) )

Yeah go for the Greddy lip seen it done on a yellow rev2 with border spats and sides looked good. Was for sale on here a while ago.

You're right about the holes being for airflow not foglights, they're meant to draw air into the border vented wings. A full border kit has a vented bonnet and radiator relocation as well. It's all designed to try and reduce front end lift by drawing air over/through the front of the car instead of underneath it.

I have a border replica front bumper too, I used to have a bomex of similar quality and fitment to the border you've described. FYI, the bomex bumper has foglight spaces in the right places.

Edit: Wait, aren't Replikit supposed to guarantee fitment now?
