But on the plus side, I know for a fact that the prototype ECU installed on Gersen's car is still working perfectly

It is indeed.

Hasn't missed a beat, hardware is bomb proof.

Got some time coming up Jeremy - want to get it on the rollers again? I'd like to have the warm up maps sorted.

No other plans for it other than that - a certain 996 is tempting me strangely.
Why thank you - I grew it myself you know

22 pages and nothing... i did warn back on page 7 that we got promised everything from this over on TB and ended up with nothing.

As much as i respect Jeremys work this is never going to happen for you lads, quite why he dangles the carrot and then does nothing about it is a total mystery to me.

Not much has happened on this project in the last 4 months I'm afraid. :(

I don't get much free (not tired) time towards the end of the year because this is the financial year end for the company I work for and it gets manic. The same thing happens every year.

Also in January I had a bad road accident. I got hit by a car (OAP driver)that drove into me head to head whilst riding my pushbike to work.

Luckily he was only doing about 15-20mph and I was doing about 10-12mph the other way but I can tell you it really hurts at that speed!

I had severe concussion from hitting the car windscreen with the back of my head as I rotated over the bonnet into the car and I hit my head again on the road. My body smashed his windscreen and ripped off the door mirror assy on one side so this gives an idea of the trauma to my body :(

I'm still recovering I can't drive a car yet and I'm on painkillers because I have longterm whiplash problems, eg nerve problems in my spine causing constant pain to appear in my neck shoulder and arm. (also tinnitus, and my elbow joint is badly damaged)

The good news is that I'm reasonably fit again and this time of year is good for me for free time.

I've got two rev2 ECU boards identical to Tom's sat here. One is already in a rev2 ECU ready for use and the other is tested and ready for fitting. I've got another modded ECU but I need that for my own use.

The mods will delete my post if I offer them for sale or give a price (already happened on prev posts)

I'd much rather supply them to someone sensible who will only let a pro tuner tinker with the mapping etc.

Hi Tom
I can't drive my car for another week or two at least but I'd like to visit Surrey RR again.

I did knock up a few modded ROMs with altered warm up maps to try but I'd prefer it if someone like Ryan tested them for AFR etc.

The ECU has what looks like a 'spoiler' ignition map below 2500rpm during warmup and this puts a hole in the timing during warmup. Dunno why it's there but it retards the ignition quite a lot and must make the car a bit boggy during warmup. It's easy to bypass this map (or fill it with zero correction) but maybe Ryan should be consulted on this...

Also the ECU doesn't really add much fuel correction during warmup which seems odd (esp compared to the mk1 MR2 ECU)

Thanks again for the testing you have done and I'm pleased the first ECU is still running OK.

The spark retard during warmup is there to heat the catalytic converter up more quickly. It might also contribute to the EGO warmup because it's non heated on the rev1 and 2's.

cheers for that :thumleft:

This spoiler ignition map is mapped for coolant temp vs engine load vs timing correction and operates during warmup but only if the revs are below 2500rpm and the throttle is being pressed.

From memory it retards by up to 6 degrees in places so it is quite aggressive.

I'd imagine (at some load settings) the car would jerk as it revved across the 2500rpm threshold as this map kicked in and out during warmup.

No worries - I much enjoyed it! I didn't get a topic reply notification hence the delay in replying! Sorry to hear you have been a crash test dummy though! :(

As it goes I am selling up both my turbo and mk1 as I've had my head turned by a younger German by the name of Porsche. The only reason I'm back in on this post is I was looking for my MPG figures!

Be nice if she goes to someone who is interested in keeping this going.

Give us a mail or a bell when you get a chance mate ;)

Are you selling the car with the revised ECU?
If you returning things to std I would be interested if you are thinking of selling the ecu on its' own.
I realise it would need mapping for my car and I would be happy to do this (through Ryan ideally) and help in any further testing development.
My car is at the stage where a decent ecu will finish off my engine work so I'm (still) very interested in this along with any other ecu's available for testing etc.

I can tell you that as an owner of a '90 Celica Alltrac and a '02 Celica GT here in the States, I'm very interested in what you can accomplish and if you ever get to sell these.

I have plenty of competent tuners where I live since I'm in Southern California and this is a Car Mecca.

Another one for good luck. If only it would happen :( Telling people about something should only be done when what you have for sale to the community is almost ready, not 10 years before you can be bothered releasing it.

I've sent the developer a few pms myself and to be fair, he's a top chap and has replied in detail several times, but i'm just so so confused as to why he isn't getting this out there, making good cash and helping out us owners.
