[Mk2] [Turbo] MOT Faulire. Leg

Post by Carty »

Hi guys. I'm away at the moment so im only getting this information from a friend, im hoping its enough.

My Import Mk2 Turbo failed its MOT Friday. First i was told it was one of the front shock absorbers. Quoted £150 to fix it and do the MOT. Seemed fair enough to me.

Friend got a phone call today to say as its an import what his got isn't the correct one and he needs to get a new "leg" from somewhere and has said its gonna cost alot if he can find one.

Can anyone hazard a guess who help out at all on that limited information. I'm abit worried if its gonna cost a fortune :(

As you can tell im not exactly a mechanical, lol.

Cheers.

yeah, you have the full strut on your car whereas most UK cars have the struts with inserts. Bilstein shockers aren't cheap but you'd want to replace an axle at a time minimum not just a single unit.

Options are, new shocks all round
coilovers all round
get hold of some uk units which you can replace the inserts

The more savvied guru's on here will be able to offer more complete advice

Allan is spot on IMHO, only thing you might consider, GTSChris, 3S, Fensport or similar might have good used rev3+ billies for a non scary price :thumleft:
