Publishers abandoning PS3

Post by James »

Silicon Alley Insider has an editorial which states that things have gone from bad to worse for Sony as publishers are now abandoning the system. While they are sensationalizing their headlines and beliefs, Behtesda apparently did state this weekend that they will only be making DLC available for Xbox 360 and PC owners.

DownLoadable Content :thumleft: that could be more to do with a deal with MS rather than anybody jumping ship from the PS3 8-[

Deal or not, if others follow suit then thats quite a blow to Sony. Especially when the DLC is better than "Horse Armour" - look at the new GTA content, or the Fallout 3 Operation Anchorage DLC, quite significant extensions to a game and enough that people will pick a platform based on this!

It may also show that Xbox / PC uses are more likley to pay for extra content over PS3.

the trouble with the PS3 apart form having the smaller user base is the development time.

any of sonys AAA titles, killzone, gran turismo, metal gear etc. take about 4 years to develop and no thrid party dev team can afford that.

look at the 360 and gears of war. weve had 2 of them in the time its taken them to make killzone 2.

i wont even mention gran turismo.
