Timing marks - someone explain them
there are 4 divisions, and 0 and 10 are printed on.
Is 10 the last division, and zero the first???

Re: Timing marks - someone explain them
0 is Top Dead Centre or TDC,10 is 10 degrees before TDC and each mark in between is 2 degrees so 2,4,6,8 degress before TDC.

Re: Timing marks - someone explain them
thanks Paul.
.
.
.sounded like a stupid question but when you see the way theyve marked it up on the motor.

Re: Timing marks - someone explain them
another thought.
.
.
.there are only 4 pointers, so one cant be 0 and then go up in 2s.
.
.would only reach 8
????

Re: Timing marks - someone explain them
there must be a pointer for 0,thats your TDC.
.
.then there must be one for 10 degrees BTDC cos thats your base timing setting at idle with Diagnostic terminals bridged, the other pointers will be in between which i would have thought were every 2 or 4 degrees btween 0 and 10.

Re: Timing marks - someone explain them
the NA has 0, 5, 10, 15, whilst the tub has only 0, 10 printed on
- 10 not corresponding with the last pointer.
If your right then great, im running about 12 deg
(plenty of stuff to stop det) but if the last mark is 15 then im running 17 deg
- cant see it though.

Re: Timing marks - someone explain them
shows how much i know about mk2 timing marks! but you said originally you have 4 marks between 0 and 10? confused?

Re: Timing marks - someone explain them
so am I
.
.
.there are 4 marks, 0 is by the first, then an odd symbol, then 10, but nothing on the end.
.
.
.
.who knows? At least the na has them all stamped on and in the right place!!
