Unusual Colour - Metalic Red 1a ???

Just thought I'd say I’ve just noticed this 1a on ebay.

It’s an imported tin top with air con. It looks to be a metallic red and the ad states it’s a standard colour. I think it looks great but also that it could make a good basis for a track car for someone with it having a solid roof.

If it was a T bar I might have been tempted to have a punt.

does look a littel ropey blue seats in a black interior?
rear bumper though is just classic laquer fade, front does look like its been aquainted with the scenery a bit!
3H8 is one of the nicest colours when its all in good order though

There's an SC in that colour that comes up for sales every now and then, but as it never gets what the seller wants for it, it neve sells.

I really, really, really like that colour

If it doesn't get to silly prices on the bay, I might have a punt myself

1a front bumper on a 1b shell leads me to suspect a crash repair done on the cheap, especially given the misalignment of the front edge of the bonnet with the bumper

I just noticed there are no bump strips/stripes on the car at all either

First pic made me think it was a probe.

Something is off, bonnet is way to round, could just be the angle though.

No.

ashtray to the left of the gearstick

1b doorcards
1b lights

for example, and its made in 1989, and the tin tops had aerials there, its a 1b with 1a parts on it (front bumper and side vent)

I have been to see this car! it has had a front bump and the front
member has been pushed back that is the reason there is a gap at the headlight, the mileage is on a UK clock this car its a import so it could be
a lot more!!!! it was imported to ireland first before coming to the UK,
It would make a track car, there are a lot of scratches on the paintwork.

I saw that on the bay. My first thoughts were "Check it for fatal rust, strip it to bare bones, cage it and race it!"

Best thing to do with a car that is the lightest possible MK1b but is never going to be possible to restore to original condition IMO.
I'm not bidding on it BTW.

If it was sold 2 weeks ago it seems something fishy may be going on with it (i.e. it's a nail!). Buy with extreme caution.

Nope - Tim was referring to the NA being discussed in this thread... and the sale in the post above yours...
I doubt a rare-colour SC would've been missed by everyone at that sorta price!
