game with the ebst graphics? (console)

Post by H3RB »

now i know the pc pretty much owns both consoles in terms of graphics etc but which game do you think has best graphics on a console?
i have a feeling a whole bunch of you are going to say gears...
but personally i think uncharted: drakes fortune is just jaw droppingly awsome  better then any game ive seen atm.
what about you?

I think each persons definition of best graphics will differ.

I liked Bioshock but mainly because I thought Rapture was just an amazing place and loved the details of it all.

Some of the most realistic looking characters I thought were actually in Alone In The Dark but the game was pants.

Add to that she sheer number of games I've never played.

Loads out there mate!

COD4 looks and plays beautifully.

GOW was jaw-dropping when it came out.

GOW2 just got even prettier. (and won GT best graphics of the year award)

Bioshock is a very pretty game and very stylish and original, water effects are gorgeous.

Assassin's Creed still looks amazing!

FarCry2 in places looks extremerly real and running through the jungle at sunrise or sunset looks amazing!
Pain is temporary, pride is forever.

Dead Space is good but I wasnt blown away, mainly because I thought the monster design was poor overall.

GT5 is pretty special to go over to the PS3.

PS3: Heavenly Sword. I've not seen a game on the PS3 match it yet. COD 4 was up there though I guess.

360: GOW2, but I've only seen a few games on that machine.

The level of detail on GOW2 is pretty imense I have to say.

I guess the bigger your TV the better you get the picture of how much details has gone into it.

Yep, that why I'm thinking of upgrading to a 42" plasma. The32" lcd I have is pretty damn awesome but bigger in this case can be better. Although the difference between 1080i and p isn't noticable apparently until you go over 50". Pioneer Kuro any one  =P~

why dont you get a 720p projector? sumut like a optoma hd700x or a infocus x9.

you can pick them up for about £400-500 and the picture will be just as good as 1080p tv but at about 100inches!

For sheer scale, I'd go with Assassin's Creed. For atmosphere, Bioshock. For tiny details that you only notice after about 40hours of gameplay and some of the most gorgeous use of colour you'll ever see, I'll chuck Fable II into the mix.

I found the GoW series to be a little dull graphics-wise. Sure, the detail is there, but there's only so many shades of grey you can look at. And yes, that is an exaggeration, but unlike the other games I mentioned I didn't at any point stop playing GoW/2 to admire the scenery.

They all have hdmi output now, even the basic ones and i agree, better than what the old component ones put out. Ens, i went from a 32" lcd to a 42" plasma with 1080p - don't listen mate, it IS better.

Im suprised the PS3'ers havent said Killzone 2.

Image

Meant to look better than gears.

Having said that tho, they have been making the thing for twice aslong as any third party dev could afford so they had to make something pretty!

It's not out for another month so can't really comment on it until we've seen it first hand.
