didnt realise they added the replacement units to the sales figures.

That's just it, do they or don't they?

I don't have a 360, but I've set a couple up to go on my sisters wireless network. And they don't even support WPA2 - sorry, but for a computer manufacturer that is just lame.

One disappointment with the PS3, it doesn't play region1 DVDs, so I've got to use another DVD player for that #-o

jus a note for the future if you want to setup WPA2 again.

theres a guide out where you can flash a wireless router so your xbox thinks its the wireless adapter.

you could probably do it then. :thumleft:

you could say that about anything tho? #-o

its not that hard to believe when jus a few weeks earlier they wrote this.

Last month, the company announced the Xbox 360 reached an install base of 25 million units after record Black Friday sales.

i have no desire to chip my xbox either. i like games online, and the xbox sweeps the floor with the ps3..

even if the sales are repeat buys from failing xboxes, why are those people buying another one rather than getting a ps3?...

for Cell read Emotion Engine, something that was meant to shatter the earth with it's processing power pre release, then when released it's just forgotten about, it's a marketing ploy #-o

To prove the power of the Cell is not up to sam, it's up to sony and the developers working on PS3 exclusive titles, they have to step up to the plate and make games that make people go 'WOW', the games will have to be a huge leap ahead of anything on the 360 to justify all the hype about the Cell, tbh i can't see it happening, the later games on the ps2 were a massive improvement over release titles but as sony entered this console race late i'd guess they're developing the ps4 right now and will hope to release at the same time as the 360s replacement.

Sony will always outsell MS in Japan no matter what, at the minute the PS is more popular in europe but it could go either way, but MS i believe have won over the US market and sony will want that back next time, it's all good for gamers tho as competition means both companies will make each other push the boundaries in their quest for sales :thumleft:

I'd go with the PS3 now; but I'm annoyed they dropped the 2 USB/card reader/PS2 emulation from it.

FWIW, my Xbox 360 wasn't online for ages because I don't want to spend a frankly ridiculous £59 on a USB wireless adaptor that costs less than half that for a generic item. And I have HDTV and HD movies to watch on the PS3, because it does it out of the box (I got the 360's HD drive because they were cheap, but use it as an external drive for my Aspire One.

Sony's point about add-ons is entirely valid with regard to the Xbox. Not sure about the Nintendo; as far as I can tell it does everything it can out of the box without needing new bits - this is the difference, I feel. The Xbox was marketed (orginally) with "the ability to play HD-DVD" and "connect wirelessly", but these were add-ons, as was the HD module (which is 'sealed and not upgradable by the user') - the PS3 shipped with all of this built in (and the HD is upgradable). I think the Dualshock 3 is a red herring too, since when that controller was made available, it became the default.

But I also expect users to be aware of all this stuff when they buy it.

FWIW, I'm not a heavy console user and both have been reliable so far. The PS3 gets a lot more use partly because it's also my TV tuner/PVR now ;)

Sony do need to push the "complete" solution they offer, but if they marketed Play TV as a capability, then I'd expect them to bundle the tuner and software... otherwise, it's no different to MS ;)

...because of all the games they own and their refusal to accept the ps3 is better? \:D/

The problem with the "cell" was that it just wasnt practical for programmers to program everything for it. In the end Sony gave up on the graphics side and got Nvidia to make them a graphics chipset so the cell could just do the the processing as a CPU.
