Exterior Stripe Option?

I was just browsing a mk1 group on facebook, and I found this car:





Was that extra stripe an option? I've never seen it before, but I think it looks awesome!

doubt it, it will be an aftermarket job
that car has clearly had some bodywork done as there are no lower stripes on the rear quarters nor on the rear bumper
