Oil Filter Choice

Post by acexxx »

Hey everyone Happy New Year.

Just a quick question about oil filters. When in Halfords I noticed that the one for the Mk1 Is the same as the Mk2. Just jumped on ebay and was looking at this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLITZ-RACING-OIL- ... 240%3A1318

Will this fit ok and will it be anymore beneficial than a standard one?

Many Thanks

Complete waste of money on a standard 4age engine, just go your local motor factos and pick one up for about £5

Think you are just paying for the name. If blitz oil filters are anything like their air filters i'd avoid like the plague!

Yes the 4AGE and 3SGE use the same filters. One from toyota is under a tenner. IIRC they include the new sump plug washer as well.

:thumleft: That's where I always get mine, at that price anything else is pointless and why take chances with something that important to your engine :D

Not any more they don't. :(

I tend to grab a handfull of sump plug washers whenever I'm at Toyota and a C138 Champion oil filter from Halfrauds with the rest of the service items (Castrol Super S, spark plugs etc).

I am always up for a bargain, but the Fram filter (and another brand I can't remember) filters I tried on my MR2 drained the oil back into the sump very quickly, this means when starting in the morning (or even after an hour or so!) it's longer before the engine is lubed properly.

Oh, and the other brand filter was supposed to have an anti-drain-back valve..... it didn't work.

I don't have this problem with the proper Toyota part.

Just my experience.......
