Newie saying hi and showing pics....

Post by nicko_12345 »

Hi, im new....

Names Nick, im 24 from Stoke-on-Trent and now drive a mr2 :)

I used to drive a Astra coupe that looked like this:

I then sold it and got myself a Astra GSI with about 240bhp which looked like this:

That is now sold and is being picked up saturday.

Recently losing my dad he left my older brother his mr2 in his will, as my brother lives in france and bulds surfboards for a living the mr2 would be pretty useless to him so he has kindly let me keep it :)

So here it is:

So far i no its a MR2 G-limited and was imported into this country in 1994 and was made in 1990, Its RWD which is VERY new to me and is taking some getting used to. Already replaced the alternator on it which was a pig of a job but now its running sweet, looking forward to having it as a daily drive after saturday :)

Well thats prob alot more than you needed to no but oh well

Thanks

Nick

Hiya Nick and welcome to the site. Sorry to hear how you became a 2 owner but hope you enjoy the car. Take it easy in this weather if it's your first RWD and get to know it before you give it the beans. Rev 1 N/As go forever if looked after so prepare for many years fun....
Any plans to mod it?

I thought mine was a rev 2? or is my lack of mr2 info really showing now :(

I am taking real care in it, i am used to my gsi with alot of power to the front wheels so its strange having power at the rear!

I will be doing some small things to it, im thinking some new wheels will be one of the first things on the list, i also want to put my ipod headunit in it as its still got the original jap one in it so i end up listening to 606 or 693 alot!

Got to sort a few things out in it first:

Only the passanger speaker works :(
The passangers electric window does not work :(
Neither of the electric mirrors will adjust but will fold in :(

Other than that its running well...

Anything made between Oct '89 and Dec '91 is a rev1 so a 1990 car fits in the middle of that. 14" wheels and the small (compared to the later cars) front splitter give it away visually.
Doesn't matter though.... personally I'm a huge fan of rev1s though they can be 'trickier' than the later cars which had revised suspension. If you can drive though I'd argue they're a more rewarding proposition. :thumleft:

its very good to drive, my favorite local bit of twisy roads its as quick through there as my astra was in the dry, i find myself creeping along in the damp/frost/ice, sure when i have driven it for a few months ill be more confident :)
