My 2 pics and details.

Post by SuzyB »

I bought the 2 in November and bar a set of alloys and lexus lights I thought she was a fairly standard rev 2.

Image

Image

First thing I did was fit a K & N induction kit and replace the headunit with a double din pioneer as the dash had been cut about a bit and never really finished.

Image

I then made a nice discovery that she had a full mongoose exhaust and decat :D

Image

I then fitted smoked rear and side lights as I prefer the look they give and got talked into putting her around the track (didn't take too much convincing LOL)

Image

This the showed up a large issue with the brakes shaking and juddering under heavy braking, and so Father Christmas brought these for me :D

Image

So after spending boxing day and the following two days covered in grease and oil and swearing about seized calipers and nuts she now has full set of grooved EBC discs with Yellow Stuff pads, braided brake hoses and front ARB (Rear should be here next week :D ) The rear spacers need longer studs so should be on soon.

Image

And she now looks like this

Hope you like what I've done.

I put them on the fronts but they were too big for the rears. I assume they stick on the back of the pad?

yea they do.

fair enough if they dont fit!

ive fitted yellow stuff to the front of my car with the original shims but my brakes squeak (as they did before i changed the pads), are yours quiet?

mine do stop squealing but ive got to keep them warm...

Just to confirm the anti squeal shims are the sticky back piece of plastic that came in the box?
If so never had any shims on the old "Quinton Hazel pads" LOL
Mine haven't squealed at all front or rear.

Looks good. Track pic looks like you're f**king flying!! Love it!

Anti Squeal shims aren't that pricey from Toyota if they are ever needed. Think its normally brake compounds that is the main reason for squealing though.

Think the choice mods you've made so far have made a big difference. :thumleft:

Got to say it has made a major difference, looking forward to getting the rear sway bar fitted next time I can get some workshop space, got to fit a new rocker cover gasket first though!!

Next couple of things will be apex springs and set of strut braces I would think.

Going to be going out on the track end of this month hopefully can't wait to see how the changes have improved it.

Strut braces make a huge difference compared to not having one.

Mine were hard plastic sticky back with the four bent tabs the backs were bigger than the pad so didn't bother.

I trust myself LOL, been ripped of on previous cars cos I couldn't work on them myself. :(

I spent a lot of time helping dad build/fix things as a kid and learnt a lot so when I bought the 2 and the Opel Manta resto project I've got they were bought as they are old enough I can do most things myself without having to use Mr T or someone else.

If it's something I haven't done then have a mate who will just come and watch and advise if necessary so I can do it next time. Th forums are also really good found all the info on how to change my rocker cover gasket and rear ARB for when the parts arrive.
