[All] [Turbo] XTD Clutches

Post by Lewis_-w »

Hi all i am new to the mr2 forum, but i thought I should let you guys know what has happened with a XTD clutch i bought a month back. I have a celica gt4 st205, I bought the clutch off a company from america called aimcoclutch. They claimed of it being able to take over 500bhp....now i am running a stock set up on my celica so should be about 260bhp. I got the clutch fitted at TR&D by Ian, and he said him self the clutch was xxxx, he had to adjust the pedal to its last setting just to get it to engage gear. But i thought that would become better over time, so i took it and from the start it was rubbish, it juddered if i didnt set off at 3krpm and sometimes even juddered at that. Aimco say it needs to be bedded in for 500miles, so i took it steady hardly coming onto boost, for 400 miles, and it was still no different. So i took it back to Ians for another look, he couldnt find anything wrong with it apart from a crap clutch lol. So again took it steady all the way home when, 1 mile from my house, the revs just went up.....So i grinded to a halt where I tryed selecting gears and they would go in but the car wouldnt move. I then tryed selecting a gear without my foot pressed on the clutch....it went in and the car didnt stall or move.....so iturned the car off and put it into first without my foot on the clutch, then started the car up....it started up just as if i had my foor pressed on the clutch. So i got it towed back home and took it to Ians. He took the XTD clutch out to disscover the rivets on the clutch plate had sheered off....very pi$$ed off with this and the claims of 500bhp when the clutch cleary coiuldnt take probably a max of 150bhp as thats about as much as it would of felt.
So i emailed the seller off ebay, and he claimed there was no problem with the clutches and offered me a blueprint one for my trouble..i didnt want that i wanted a full refund and costs towards my labour costs. Eventaully got a full refund, with him saying i will give you a full refund if you give good feedback..But i thought no chance, so neged him. And then got a dispute put through from him saying i aint paid for the goods. With 3 emails from him begging for me to change the feedback. Eventaully i changed the feedback after he had sent me $200 extra dollars. I was still down from the labour costs and didnt want to change the feedback but i couldnt pass down $200.
I will get pics up tomorrow off the clutch, just thought I would warn you all.
