MR2 WRA at the Jap Tuning Show. 31/5/2009. Silverstone. **Payment Required**

2009 will be the year a new record will be set (hopefully!).
We are looking at getting the largest rolling convoy of MR2's in one place at any one time. A record that is currently held by the Netherlands with 162 cars.
The record was actually broken a couple of years back but due to an adminstative error the record was not 'official'.
So, this time round we will be aiming for bigger and better...and all the documentation correct too!

There are currently 208 names listed, i would like to see how many IMOC would like to go.

Potential venues for the attempt are Silverstone, the TopGear track and various other airfields. A date and venue will be firmed up in the New Year.

A date of 31st May has been set. This will coincide with Japanese Tuning Show at Silverstone.

If you're planning to hold this at a race circuit, it might be worth trying to do it at an MR2 Championship race meeting. Not only will it mean that there's something at the event of interest for MR2 drivers other than the WRA, but there'll already be ~50 MR2s present that probably would not have otherwise attended...

Tis a good idea

However, there may be a problem with the amount of time required to get the all cars on the circuit, into a rolling convoy and off again in between races.

Based on the time required at the last attempt, you'll be looking at around 1.5 hours.

I have also offered to try and get something co-inciding with a BaT trackday. BaT did a number of exclusive club days last year which also involved large rolling convoys, trade stands and show'n'shine etc... Although BaT only ran the track day eliment.

Rockingham is the perfect venue due to the size of car parks, paddocks, track availability etc... you could even think about using the handling circuit there too

I would need to know a date or a number of dates you may be interested in if you want me to take discussions further

Good idea Patrick! WRA no2, an extra lot of race MR2s and spectators cars already there anyway would certainly boost the numbers plus we all get a days racing to watch
