Play TV is the little box that turns the PS3 into a PVR, recording Freeview

I'm working, watching Scrubs on the PSP via PS3 remote play.

Means losing a USB port, which on a newer model is a PITA.

not having the usual dig here but i was suprised to find out it isnt free.
the PS3 is struggling at the moment so adding it to the standard feature list(which im sure they could of done) would of given them another boost in sales.
stick a downloadable video library on there like live with movies and stuff and you have the complete system in a box.

we have a 60GB one which has 4 USB ports and is backwards compatible.
I can see the limitations of just having two USB ports.
Play TV sounds good, though I wouldn't consider it until or unless it can do HDTV.We already have a sony HDD/DVD recorder so at the moment it's probably not worth doing for our needs.
matt_mr2t wrote:It's a pretty fairly priced box of tricks.A freeview box with hdd costs more than that and as far as i'm aware one with sky+ features doesn't even exist?

I'm thinking the picture quality is a bit better too, though I don't see how that can be possible.

For the price- about double a remotely decent single-tuner Freeview box
- it's a bargain.
The software will be actively developed, unlike Freeview adaptors where you're stuck with the bugs they shipped with, and the cost of a PS3 and 500GB drive is still under
£400, so you're going to be able to build a very nice
"media hub"
- Blue Ray, TV, Radio, games.

I'm assuming it doesn't support the forthcoming HD broadcasts on Freeview.
