MK1 Head bolt Socket help......Please

Post by Scooter »

Guys and Girls, i'm after info on what socket i need for the female socket required to remove the head bolts on a mk1

What size and the best place to get one would be good........

.......i'd just buy a set, but i did that for the male type needed for a VW polo's head and they didn't fit past the cam etc and so i ended up borrowing someone elses anyway!

3/4' 10mm double hex deep socket is the best for the head bolts, you can get them singley from Halfords. Otherwise I believe it's a SST from Toyota or a female Torx socket but I couldn't find one when I was looking last year.

as just posted, yes double hex head.

May also be called bi-hex head, dont get the standard hex type (6 sides).

You'll probably need a breaker bar too, they are well tight

Yes, 3/8" drive is what you need, 1/2" drive sockets won't fit.
