mk1a mr2 for sale

Post by TobyA »

1985 C reg mk1a mr2 in great condition for age

79,000miles
Full history
MOT till april 2009
Spotless original arches
Koni adjustable suspension, lowered 35mm, polybushed all round
Janspeed stainless steel exhaust system and K&N induction
ST165 celica fr twin pot caliper with vented discs, EBC discs on rear
Strut brace
Raybrig headlights
Toad Ai606 alarm (top of the range)
Quickshift conversion and direct throttle linkage conversion
Compomotive MO 16" 7j aluminium alloy wheels (~£900 new)

2 previous owners. rarer early mk1a with the blue-top engine (had an ecu producing ~8bhp more than the later mk1b) so now probably around 138bhp. Filled with £50's worth of Castrol Edge oil. Well looked after. The paintwork isn't pristine close-up with some very faint scratches here and there but has great shine.

Asking for £1750 including the Compomotives but open to offers with standard wheels. Thanks. Toby. (feel free to tx me on 07920584456)

It looks very nice but defo get some pics up of those arches. As far as i am aware the early blue letter top engine doesn't have a better ecu than the later mk1b and it was rated at 121bhp (1bhp less than the later mk1b engines). it does open the tvis early though and is supposed to be rever.

hmmmmn, think you'd be doing well to get the asking price for it, people just don't have the money at the moment (credit crunch, xmas etc) to splash out on toys so there aren't as many people looking for these at the moment unfortunately. I would suggest maybe waiting until after xmas, but then you'll be approaching MOT time. I guess there's never a good time to sell a car lol

Thanks, i know what you mean - not many people are looking for a sports car in wintertime. However, MOT time is never a problem for me with this car! ;-)

I'll upload decent pics tomorrow and put an advert on Pistonheads, Autotrader and Ebay.

Lovely car but this really is a crap time to be selling you would be much more likely to get your asking price if you hang on till about march/april time :thumleft:

My old car.

It is a totally original car as far as the bodywork goes. I was the second owner and bought the car off the original owner who lived in London and only used the car a couple of times a month. Until i owned it a couple of years ago i don't think it had ever been on a salted road.

The arches have never been touched and like new. i only sold it to buy another mk1 which already had a mk2 turbo engine in it. Wish i had kept this one though.

Good luck Toby. It is worth the money.

I take it the car still has Raybrig headlights as well. Let me know if you want a standard steering wheel for the car as i still have it.

thanks, martin. it is a real goodun and i'm not rushed to sell so happy to wait a few months now.

my honest reason for sale is that i want to nurture an old classic (probably a bmw 2002) and this is more like a uber reliable modern car!
