On the US & Jap PlayStation Store's there's a piece off free software you can download that allows you to install selected PS2 games to the PS3's HDD.

extra expense for what is essentially the same game.. lol

Ive tried it on the PS3 and the game play aint much different to warrent spending more monies for a game which just looks a bit better... [-( :oldtongue:

I haven't played 09 on the ps3 but 08 is virtually identical to the earlier pro evos, on the other hand it's a totally different game on the 360 :oldtongue:

360 plus separate bluray?

does it handle the same on the ps2 as the ps3? i was going to use pro evo as my reason to buy a ps3 but after playing 08 on my mates it felt very last gen, too arcadey imo

IIRC Jap & US PS3's emulate PS2 completely by hardware.
UK PS3's (just the 60Gb version) emulate PS2 partly by hardware & partly by software.

I've only played pro evo a little but had a good go of fifa and it's been so much better than the old ps2 versions!

Almost. UK 60GB only ever did the emulation via software, that's why it was so utterly rubbish, and part of the reason why they dumped it. Well, that and the extra cost.

Explains why the UK PSN never got the PS2 HDD loader :thumleft:

Just keep the old ps2 packed away then crack it out when you feel like it. Once you get in to the ps3 it'll be fewer and further between any way.

No, I'm fairly sure that the UK 60Gb version was partly hardware - and the reason it was dumped was to get the price down (along with dropping 2 USB ports and the card readers).

I think they do. I have an original 60Gb PS3 and it plays PS2 games with very little issue. Mark played san andreas on it a few times. Apart from the odd bit of 'speedy traffic' no other issues as such.

Right... have just ordered a PS3 bundle from the GAME websire with the following...

PS3 80GB Console with LittleBigPlanet + Resistance 2 + Fallout 3 + Lost (PS3)

All for £290! Should arrive in about 2/4 working days so could be here by the end of the week!

That should keep me going for a while and then next month im going to purchase the new TV im chatting about in the thread in general.

A 40" Samsung LCD, full HD, 50000:1 Contrast ratio and 100mhz.

Cant wait... although i then need a surround sound as well! #-o

I saw this deal in the paper the other day. That's a cracking deal. It's annoying though as I paid £350 for my 40gb one in March with 2 games, 2 blurays and an HDMI lead (worth all of a tenner)

Just thought id update you lot...

Been using it while i have been getting some precious spare time and im loving it so far.. :)

Loving the whole playing DivX thing from the USB stick (aint hooked up a wifi network in the house yet) but one thing that puzzles me is that i have an external HD which it wont recognise as a storage device.

Currently been playing Resistance 2 and its a great game and the graphics are excellent even without the HD element.

Ok a question... What is the correct method to hook up my PSP to the PS3 and what exactly can i do with it?

Plug PSP in via USB, Register Device (I think in settings).

With it, you can buy PSOne games from the store and play them on either, dump or stream Play TV movies or other content (music), and remotely control the PS3 over a net connection.

What you can't do is use the PSP as a monitor for playing a PS3 title remotely.

You can switch on the PS3 from the PSP when it's set up properly.
