Have you got your settings right?
That was all the poo poo we we're fed before the PS3 was launched, All games 1080p yada, yada. Only 5 of my 15 games are actually 1080p

About the only one that runs at 1080p is GT5prologue, everything else is 720p (for the games that I have).
I've got gt5 resistance stranglehold and had uncharted and all came out in 1080p all the xbox games are too. The tv has a little box that tells me what res it's showing.

AFAIK GT5p only runs at 1080p in the replays.
Wipeout runs at 1080p (most of the time ) at full 50/60hz
So how come all my games show up as 1080p? Saying that, just looked at the boxes and they do indeed say 720p perhaps my tv upscales to 1080p or the ps3 does? Bit ghey imo. All the xbox games are 1080i or 1080p

"All the xbox games are 1080i or 1080p"
No, they're not.
Developers are equally lazy on both platforms - a lot of 360 games labelled 1080p are in fact 720 upscaled to output 1080, Sony enforce a little more honesty on the labelling from what I've read - but they're just as xxxx as each other for not churning out more native 1080p titles.
"Unlike what is happening on the Xbox 360 game boxes, Sony doesnt advertise 1080p on the back of game boxes unless it is a truly native 1080p title. A good example of this is the game Warhawk where in the Playstation Store they say it scales up to 1080p not that it is native 1080p. The Xbox 360 list of games advertised on game boxes is longer, but there are a small number of native 1080p titles on the Xbox 360."

Well I'd rather play something at 720p with an update of 25 or 50fps rather than 1080p @ 12 or 17fps
1080p is simply too big for the current hardware to run at a decent framerate (wipeout does a good job but it's been designed so you don't see too much scenery and there's not many other racers on screen at once).

Gran Turismo looks good, a fair amount of things happening on the screen, IIRC that runs at 60fps and 30fps in replays.
But yes, 720 is fine for me, 1080 is nice occasionally though.
So is it the PS3/Xbox that is upscaling my games to 1080p as I said, they all show on the TV as 1080p
I take it 1080p games are much more complicated than 1080p movies?
