One problem already though.

Part of it is set on LV426. This is apparently set after alien3. Well that planet was destroyed (well at least the colony and where the aliens were) after Aliens so what's up with that. Whats to "search" if we're looking for the Suluco/Ripley?

Only 30km was destroyed in Aliens not the planet, so they 'could' go back there and find a lot more Aliens (makes sence).

Doesn't really fit in with being after Alien3 though.....seeing as the original Bishop was searching for the Alien (at the end of Alien3)....the company would have just gone straight down to LV426 to check it all out........BUT maybe they did, didn't find anything so went after Ripley. :-k

They are not searching for aliens though mate. They are searching for Ripley. The inhabitable areas were destroyed. So what Space has air now lol. Remember, the planet needed fusion powered atmosphere generators to give it air. Well these were destroyed, and in all the pics I've seen I don't see marines in space suits... yet. So why bother searching for Ripley there especially when like you say they saw her die at the end of Alien3.

In theory, they know she's dead, so why go looking?

The original game for the ps2 would make more sense(same title, never released) made more sense. Set between Aliens and Alien3.

Just is really putting a downer on it. Like you say we just want Aliens Special Edition playable lol. It seems a stupid mistake.

I'll just stick to the Aliens Arcade for now

Only ever seen that arcade game once when I was a kid!...never got a chance to play it!! :(

Inbetween Aliens and Alien3 you'd think the company would check out LV426 straight away seeing as what happened in Aliens! and thats where this new game should be set! :thumleft:

Yeah I know Bishop and the company were after Ripley (Alien3) but right at the end Bishop starts wailing on about how the company want the Alien and how much they can learn from it and use it.

Alien Resurrection (terrible!) is set another 2-300 years from Alien3 (I think) so Bishops company is long gone and now the military are after it for a weapon.

I know mate, but this game is set between aliens and alien3 and the story follows the search for ripley. If they said the search for an alien then fair enough but they haven't. They say it's a search for ripley which is why is doesn't make sense.

But hell ther'll probably be some kinda twist or something.

Sorry meant to say it's set after alien3

:

"The story of Aliens: Colonial Marines is being written by Battlestar Galactica writers Bradley Thompson and David Weddle.[8] The events of the game are set after those of the film Alien 3.[9] A Colonial Marine search and rescue team has been sent to investigate the U.S.S. Sulaco in search of Ellen Ripley, Corporal Dwayne Hicks, and the rest of the missing marines who were dispatched to LV-426. The Sulaco, LV-426, Fiorina "Fury" 161 prison facility, and the derelict alien spacecraft from Alien all serve as environments in the game, as well as other locations yet to be detailed.[10][9]"

I hope this is just an error when typed up for wiki.

:shock: [-X Well if this is true then it doesn't make sense with the films at all!!! :evil: =;

"Each player character can carry additional weapons including a flamethrower, pulse rifle, pistol, RPG, and grenades."

 There better be a f**kin Smart Gun in there!!!!

"A previous game titled Aliens: Colonial Marines was developed by Check Six Games and published by Fox Interactive and Electronic Arts for the PlayStation 2 in 2001, but was cancelled before its release. A more traditional first-person shooter, it shared the same subject matter and setting as the upcoming Gearbox-developed game. Its story was to be set between the events of Aliens and Alien 3, concerning a rescue team of Colonial Marines searching for the Sulaco. Despite the similarities in gameplay and story, however, Gearbox has claimed that their upcoming game is unrelated to this early version"

That makes FAR more sense than being set after Alien3!!!

I doubt we'll see a smart gun. :( Hell it'd makes things too easy. It aims for you lol.

Shame hardly any games had it featured. Flame Thrower seems to be a must on most Aliens games.
