The mad thing is, I dont think I saw it before!

I still havent fired up the Xbox to download the new XNE.

Really do think this avatar thing looks bloody childish and Wii-like though and I really dont like Wii's much.

xxxx me Mat you need to lighten man ;) It aint Childish its a bit of fun.

I think its a great idea if only for the fact that it actually adds more depth to someones gamertag - now you have an idea what they look like - they are more than just a name on screen.

I really cant understand people who are getting their knickers in such a twist about it - I swear they just dont like change! Download the update or dont bother - MS wont care either way but if you dont I suspect you will be missing out.

I'm not getting my knickers in a twist, I just think they're taking the main element of the 360 that I liked away.

I thought it was more a console for grown ups.

As for the avatars looking like the gamer, unlikely! This is the web lol, 99% of them will make out like they're Brad Pitt when they're actually quasimodo.

ok then your making a big deal out of something thats really isnt a big deal.

you will spend 2 minutes making your avatar and thats it, you can forget about it then.

Do you have to have one?

I'll just leave it blank if there's the option.

you can leave it blank, I downloaded it the other day and thought, wow this is childish, then proceeded to make my avatar look like me whilst keep asking my lass if she thought angry eyes or strong eyebrows

Man I wish I was a kid again but instead of having master systems we have what we have now

What the dash board?

Its not like all of a sudden the whole focus of the 360 is going to now be centred around balance boards and waving a remote at the TV.

Its an evolutionary stage in the life of the 360 and quite possibly as its viewed as more adult they are trying to widen its appeal to a different market (girls / children).

Notice the adds recently they centre more around other forms of entertainment than actually playing games (movies, music etc) and these are the things that appeal to people other than the core Xbox gamer market. If they want to build on the success of the 360 they need to start attracting a different audience which are people who would have considered a WII but not a 360.

Quite genuinely my Avatar looks like me and for all the people I know personally all theirs look like they do (well as much as possible considering the limited customisation).

There is only one in my friends list who doesn’t look anything like his Avatar but then there isn’t an Obese selection in the avatar creation only slim to slightly built. :D

anyone tried the photo party?

i downloaded it from the spotlights channel and its really kewl. can have a slideshow with all your mates and they get the pic full screen and really good quality. takes about 5 seconds to show up at there end too once youve added it to the library.

the quick launch menu is probably one of my favourite unannounced features. handy to jump from demo to demo and having the full blades instead of the old side one is a huge plus too.

On the XMB Yes, In a game ... Depends on the game or if it's had an update to allow it (Hot SHots has just received a patch i believe to allow this) Warhawk has for a while now, Open chat server option when creating games and set to friends only.

I'm a big kid and quite like the new 360 dashboard but while at my mates last night setting up my little person his young lad stopped me arsing about with it as he wanted us to play COD5 co-op (which moves rather well i might add)

but can you then go off and play a single player game whilst still in the chat and nobody else is playing?

if you can it must of been added in the last big update because you definately couldnt when i had it.

Yes 8-[

(when HOME is released)

I doubt it but not tried TBH you probably still have to close the chat window down. Open chat was supposed to happen in a recent update but hasn't surfaced yet.

I have open chat in the form of a mobile phone with speaker on with hundreds of free x network minutes i never use, Sometimes i use this method with Warhawk if i'm in a server with clan members but server is set to no chat allowed.

It's a game in a game, Randomly pick a player name and just repeatedly target that one player to see how long it takes before they quit out :D

Bonus point earned if they message you complaining
