new dash out already? (nxe)

i have the preview version of the nxe but i just turned my xbox on and it says that there is a system update avaliable for the 360 so i press aceept and it starts downloading but fails, does this everytime i sign in.
maybe the new dash is floating around now? anyone else with the same thing?

nope, alls i got is a message from Live saying it was coming on the 19th

or as most people see it, the day we get a xxxx load of new features and ONE of them is avatars.

pictures of people is the only comparison to the wii.

i have the new dash
there arent xxxx loads of new features... there are several on most of them you will never use... so big whoopdey doo lol

To be honest, I like the current dash and don't see why they're xxxx around with it so much.

All it needed was a web browser and it would have been perfect.

I havent seen any of it really, couple of pictures on line and that's it.

You spend a few years getting used to something then they change it!

One thing I like about the 360 is being able to quickly see who's online and what they're playing, I hope that still applies on the new dash?

Ok maybe a xxxx load was OTT. Maybe" improved on whats there and added stuff people hav wanted for a while now" fits better.

Id jus b happy gettin the party mode in the dashboard so the rest is jus a bonus.

Somethings are finely honed. For example a Porsche 911. They don't suddenly change the car beyond all recognition. Every time they update it they do subtle things, it's still a 911 but slightly better.

I personally think the dashboard on the 360 is simular in that over the years MS have finely honed it to a very useable system. It's easy to navigate around, it looks good and is very clearly set out.

So why all of a sudden do they feel the need to replace it with something completely different? Why not just add to the great system they already have?

It's not that I don't think the new one is any good, I don't know, I havent seen or used it. I just dont understand what was wrong with what we've got.

I guess I'll have to reserve judgement until I see it. Be nice to be able to revert back if you dont like it

Well I'm looking forward to it TBH.

The current dash is very good but does need updating IMO.

The Avatar thing can f**k right off though. Not my style.

Everything else looks wicked though!

On a comparative basis I have always found things easier to find on the current xbox dahsboard compared to the PS3 one.

I hope it doesnt end up losing the ease of finding things. When I first got the PS3 it took me bloody ages to figure out how to get the sound and picture set up correctly.

it all changes tomorrow, the update should'nt be available, strange.

you should have a message from microsoft.

haha, they should just stick internet explorer on the 360 dash, both MS so couldn't be that hard!!!

i think the reason we dont have a browser is because live is a closed network. MS wanted to avoid the dangers of viruses and stuff.

There also pretty adamant its not a pc and dont want the 2 confusing.

Not sure if thats the case but thats why we havent had one before.

I like the avatars. You only make it once and the game related clothing and items wil b kewl.

I want my avatar to hav a chainsaw bayonet from gears.
